Anna Leverenz is a woman whose life experiences have profoundly shaped her approach to both business and community. Her journey from Chicago to Arizona and finally to Florida reveals a consistent thread of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Anna's upbringing on the North side of Chicago, alongside her parents and two brothers, laid the groundwork for her future endeavors.
Her strong bond with her mother, Darlene, was particularly influential.
Growing up, Anna gained valuable experience in public relations, communication, business operations, customer service, and "human compassion" while working at her family's restaurant.
A move to a mansion closer to her Immaculata High School sparked Anna's talent for remodeling, as she helped her mother bring renovation dreams to life. Little did she know that this was truly the birth of her “Diamond Service” concept.
Her love for architecture was further ignited by Chicago's iconic landmarks, like Mayor Daley's greystone home and the Yellowstone Army Hospital, and by observing the construction of the John Hancock building. Even a class trip to the Shedd Aquarium found Anna more captivated by the building itself than its aquatic inhabitants (with the exception of the fish, a nod to her personal hobby of maintaining a home aquarium).
In the mid-80s, Anna ventured west to Arizona, seeking to forge her own path. There, she found healing and self-discovery amidst the nurturing indigenous spiritual splendor. As much as she was bathed in Nature’s architecture, she missed the iconic landmarks of Chicago.
Her love for hospitality led her to jobs at family-owned Italian restaurants, but it was her bartending role at the Tohono O’odham Nation’s reservation that significantly broadened her perspective. She developed deep affection for the people there, who, in turn, embraced this bold and outspoken woman from Chicago - even the Tribal Chief held Anna in high regard. It was during this period in Arizona that her profound compassion for people of all socio-economic backgrounds blossomed, and she discovered immense joy in witnessing her clients' happiness.
Anna's journey eventually led her to Florida, where she reunited with her mother, Darlene Leverenz, who had established her own real estate business in Indian Rocks. Anna joined as her mother's assistant, a role that allowed her to continue working even while battling cancer.
This experience motivated Anna to obtain her own real estate license. Together, these two strong-willed women served their Indian Rocks community and beyond with their spirit, real estate expertise, and unwavering integrity.
Middle age brought unforeseen challenges for Anna, as she not only stepped into the role of caregiver for her Mother but also for her brother, Vincent, who was battling cancer. While many might sacrifice their own ambitions in such circumstances, Anna Leverenz proved to be exceptional.
Emerging from the profound grief of losing both her brother and mother within a few short years, Anna has risen to continue her family's real estate legacy, now as part of Future Home Realty. Her inherent compassion for others and love for her community have endured. She established a non-profit organization in her brother's honor, donating money and instruments to Girls Rock St. Pete.
Additionally, she founded and presides over "Alt Womyn Events, Inc." a social organization dedicated to the lesbian community in the St. Petersburg area. The mission statement of Alt Womyn Events - "Women connecting Women. Whether it is business or social, we want to create a safe haven of camaraderie - a support group that builds each other up and encourages talents and abilities" - perfectly encapsulates her community-focused approach and vision for fostering supportive connections.
